ABOUT US
Welcome to New Directions Community Church. Birthed out of the heart of the Seeker Movement that swept the Evangelical Church in the late 80's and 90's, New Directions Community Church has a heart for people who have not yet heard the life giving message of Jesus Christ.

The heartbeat of the church is simple and uncomplicated:

Reaching people for Christ
Restoring them to the likeness of Jesus Christ so that they might in turn be
Released to reach the unchurched.

HISTORY
The Story So Far
In 1994 we felt compelled to plant a church for the unchurched.  In the early 1990's this was almost unheard of - a church for unchurched people.  In 1993 7 friends suicided and it was this burning of our hearts which made us realize that so many people do not have life in abundance here on earth and then for many go onto a Christless eternity.  This sense of urgency provided the impetus and drive to pioneer a different way of doing church.

We love to be an active participant in community believing that the church has a lot to offer in building positive communities within which people can live.

As the church has formed and matured we have been able to take on further projects and enlarge our vision. Supporting Empart and Ignite are two recent ventures that the church has undertaken to see God’s planet littered with thriving churches that bring the redemptive message of the cross in a myriad of culturally relevant ways.

Days of squatting came to an end  in April 2007 with the completion of our new church home - The Tailrace Centre. To date over 150,000 people have utiized the facility.

As we continue to mature and to grow, and as our vision increases and enlarges we always want to remember the primary thing that God has called us to do: “to make disciples that will change the city and impact the nations.” .
