Your butt will look great in these work out pants!
Every morning I wake up to retail tag lines telling me: “My butt will look great in these work out pants” or “Products the celebs are wearing.”
It’s hard to not believe the myth.
That if I just change my pants my butt will take on goddess proportions.
Some days its hard to believe we are more than our outside looks.
But I think we become in our lives whoever the people we love the most say we are.
With kids its really easy to tell them what they are doing wrong and how they can improve.
It seems harder to tell them who they are.
It seems even harder to position children in places where they can consistently hear who they are.
I don’t know why it is easier to say, “Stop it!” or “He’s being such a pain today!” than to say, “She is wonderfully made, gifted, talented, strong, kind, courageous, destined, purposed.”
Usually when a child is told how to do something the child arcs up and says, “I do it myself.”
But when a child is told who they are they gravitate to that being.
We become in our lives whoever the people we love the most say we are.
One of my crazy dreams is that this city will be filled with parents who believe in who kids are.
That’s why we put on the Enchanted Evening and Morning so that children will know who we think they are.
Over the years I have watched mothers invite who class rooms to the event simply because they want their child’s friends to hear who they really are.
Imagine a city where parents called out the worth and value of their child and every other child?
Imagine how easier parenting would be if you weren’t the only voice speaking into a child’s life telling them who they really were.
My friend who invited her child’s class to Enchanted was a mother who so understood that we become we become in our lives whoever the people we love the most say we are.
I know it’s easier to buy the pants that will make our butt look great.
But imagine how the children of this city might flourish if they heard who they truly were.
