Naming Services are heart stopping moments in time. They provide people with the opportunity to express what is in their heart towards the child that has been born. At the Tailrace Centre our celebrants can provide both Baby Naming Services and Child Dedication Services.
What is the difference between a Naming Service, a Dedication Service and a Christening?
A Christening
A Christening is a service conducted by churches that believe that baptism is an important part of a person’s salvation. The child is welcomed, celebrated, blessed and baptised into the Christian faith. Normally this occurs within the Catholic church.
Child Dedication Services
Child Dedication services are conducted by churches that believe that a parent can only dedicate their child to God. The decision to become a Christ follower is a decision that the child must make when they are old enough to understand what they are committing to. Baptism then becomes a choice that the child makes later in life. The service is beautiful with the baby being welcomed and celebrated by family, and friends.
Naming Services
Naming Services are ceremonies conducted where the parent wants to celebrate and welcome the child without the Christian beliefs attached to
the service. The child is affirmed, the meaning of their name explained and their life celebrated and blessed by family and friends. Each service is beautiful. Whether it is a Christening, a Child Dedication or a Naming Service the most important thing is that the child is affirmed, loved, valued cherished and celebrated. At the Tailrace Centre we provide both Naming Services and Child Dedication Services.
